Because Dewitt holds a belief that the Universe is friendly, the filter he sees the world through allows him to see beauty wherever he goes – it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

In fact, because he’s decided it’s an important part of his day-to-day life to find beauty and what’s right with the world, he’s developed a kind of mental radar that is constantly scanning his environment for it. That scanning happens subconsciously, his radar goes to work without his conscious knowledge or effort.

This is good news, because it means that we can develop a belief that beauty is all around us too! And when we make finding that beauty an important part of our day-to-day life, we too will have a radar that’s subconsciously scanning the world looking for beauty, and what’s right with the world, wherever we go.
